John Coriolan (a pseudonym) has experienced a lifetime in and around
the literary and dramatic arts community, which might be said to have started
when he attended the University of Iowa as a classmate of Tennessee Williams.
He began his writing career with one-act plays, some of which were produced
even while still a student. He taught high school and college courses in
English and Drama in the New York area, and switched to writing short stories
and novels. Five of his gay novels were published as well as many short stories.
He frequently spent his summers acting in and managing summer theaters in
the northeast. For a time he ran the Dance Players Studio in New York, so
his knowledge of ballet and the dancers is first hand. Oh, yes, he also picked
up a Master's degree from Columbia.
John has always been an advocate of the explicit in gay
fiction, and his novel The Sand Fortress, published in
1968 and now considered a classic, was a breakthrough from that
standpoint. He also published several short story collections, one of
which was illustrated by drawings by Tom of Finland.
GLB Publishers is bringing back some of his early works
as e-Books: Christie Dancing, The Smile of Eros, Unzipped, and
Dream Stud at his own web site:
www.johncoriolan.com .
At present John resides in San Francisco, regularly works
out in a gym, and continues to write gay fiction.
