Stanley E. Ely has arrived at a writing career after years in international advertising and teaching French and Spanish. Born in Dallas, he broke the southern bonds by attending Northwestern University and, after two years military service, moving to New York City where he later earned a Master's Degree from Hunter College. His first book, In Jewish Texas: A Family Memoir, was published by Texas Christian University Press in1998, and earned him an invitation as featured author to the Texas Book Festival. Perfect Mondays, Ely's first novel, appeared in 2002 from Painted Leaf Press. In the Steps of Mister Proust from GLB Publishers is his second novel.
In 2003 he also completed and had readings of his two-act play, A Pebble on Your Stone. Ely lives in New York City and continues to write short fiction and non-fiction.
