GLB Publishers® has as its mission the publishing of good books by and for Gay men, Lesbians, and Bisexuals, hence our name (and it's trademarked).
We are cooperative publishers, meaning that the author, with what s/he believes is a worthy manuscript, shares the cost of publishing the book and earns a higher rate of return (royalty) to recover expenses. GLB does all the technical work and organizes the marketing in consultation with the author, so the author becomes a partner in the project, a publisher as well as an author.
Our titles include fiction (both explicit and the more traditional forms), non-fiction, and occasionally poetry (unusual these days). Our author list includes some of the most distinguished authors and academics as well as first-time authors. See our "covers" page for examples of our books.
Our marketing network includes national and international organizations that specialize in the gay/lesbian markets and book stores. GLB Publishers is known worldwide as a leading source of gay/lesbian/bisexual books. For the US and Canada we distribute through Ingram wholesaler, the largest book wholesaler in the world; in the UK we are represented by Gazelle Distributors, and in Australia our books are distributed by Bulldog Books.
Our Web Site is becoming more popular every day, with more hits every month (and we keep track!). In addition to presenting our print titles, we also offer the opportunity for electronic publishing on the Net (see below for info on e-Books). No other comparable organization has as much presence on the Internet.
Print publishing: If you are interested in learning more about publishing your work with GLB Publishers, we suggest reviewing our Guidelines page or requesting our Author Guidelines for a fuller description of the process; if you wish the Guidelines mailed, please supply your name and address. Personal publishing: When time permits, we also do personal publishing, meaning publishing of a paper book for an individual's use where the marketing is not part of the anticipated function of the publisher. These projects are done on a cost-plus basis; we publish the kind of book you want, in the numbers you want, to your satisfaction, ship you the books, and away you go. It can be done inexpensively or luxuriously, as you prefer. Most poetry published currently is done in this manner. Writer coaching: While we do considerable in the way of editing prose when necessary, more extensive work may be needed and we recommend a writing coach in some instances.
