Soft Slow Motion
Poetry by

Dixie Schnell

Simplicity and Skill

In the brief biography that introduces her poetry, Dixie Schnell writes: "I am a strong believer in the power of the written word, and I have used it as a great healing tool and a special way of expressing my feelings." Those who share this belief may find Soft Slow Motion, a collection of Schnell's straight-forward, simply stated poems, to be of particular interest. Schnell often poses a question and then explores its implications. Poems such as "Say It All Again," "Inside Search," "Like a Glove," "Round and Round," "Pistol," "Family," "Unspoken" and "God Is Love" draw the reader into the poet's analytical process. But Schnell declines definitive answers in favor of more philosophical conclusions. In "Rainbow," an interesting variation of this format, the question is the end, not the beginning...
Schnell leaves me wanting something more—more detail, description, revelation—and more risk.
                                 - Carol Rosenfeld, Lambda Book Report

This collection of poetry by Dixie Schnell is beautiful, showing the many ways her life has been touched as a former truck-driver, and managing to embrace feelings that we should all understand. If reading poetry is your thing, then mark Dixie Schnell as someone reaching out with inner being.
