Excerpts from The
Weigh-In
MEN DANCING I
Men are dancing, driven
By the pounding music's
Rhythm, circled
By the dreams which
Rise invisibly
Stageward, impotently
Lusting; men are dancing,
Focusing on
Muscles' depo-
Sition, distanced by
Stares which burn across them
Covetously, taking
Off their clothing;
Men are dancing,
Deafened by the words,
Whistles, gasps or sighs, and
Blinded by the spotlights:
Only movement
Gives expression
By casting shadows.

II. [FRANK' 6 A.M., TIMES SQUARE]
Showering, the
Water's freefall
Rinses off all
Traces of the
Man who'd brought you,
Can't break these chains . . .
Of love, taking
Off your clothes to
Twist beneath his
Sheets, evolving
In his mind from
One night's escort
Frank,' to sometime
Son; the water
Flowing pipe to
Pipe around you,
Cigarettes and
Drugs and money.
Frank,' to sometime
Son; the water
Flowing pipe to
Pipe around you,
Cigarettes and
Drugs and money.
